On Saturday, May 30, Seinan’s ESS member, Mami Adachi took 1st place in the 21st Mackenzie Cup Recitation Contest at Baikou Gakuin University in Shimonoseki. Mami, a 1st-year English Department student, performed Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech.

The Seinan-Jo-Winchester Universities Debate team were first place winners of the “Does diversity Matter?” debate contest held at The International University of Kagoshima on May 30. The sponsor of the debate contest  was the Canadian Embassy in Japan.

Every year, our English Department takes the 1st and 2nd Year students for a 2-day “English Camp.” This year, we travelled to the Nishi-Nagato Resort Hotel in Yamaguchi Prefecture. These were some of the highlights of our trip:

A visit to the Shimonoseki “Kaikyoukan” Aquarium
A Scavenger Hunt activity on the hotel grounds
Eating a delicious dinner together
