We were very pleased to see that our Faculty of Humanities (人文学部) was ranked 43rd in Japan for numbers of graduate students finding employment in 2010. In fact, we were the highest ranked faculty in Kyushu!

After 3 months of studying at Seinan Jo, it was sadly time for Amie, Eve, Lauren and Olivia to head home. As well as studying at the university, the staff and students ensured they had many opportunities for other cultural and social activities. We wish the 4 of them all the best for the future…

On June 19, the Baiko Gakuin University ESS held its 2010 Mackenzie Cup speech contest. The two speeches available to students were John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama’s inaugural addresses. Two of our 1st-Year students, Satoko Murata and Akiho Tsuji took part. Here are the results:

Although we were sad to see Prof’s Ono and Osato retire this year, we are delighted to welcome our new staff member: Ms Suzuko Brown-Mamoto. Her office is on the 5th floor of building 8.
Once again we are hosting 4 students from Winchester University in the UK. They will be with us for the next 3 months, studying language teaching and Japanese language and culture. Their names are:

On April 3, we welcomed 56 new students to our English Department. The cherry blossom was perfect for the day, even though the weather was a little cold. All the parents attended an orientation session while their daughters took a class placement test.
