About Margaret Orleans
Margaret Orleans is in her fourth year of her second teaching stint at Seinan Jo Gakuin. She currently teaches Discussion I and II, Media English, Paragraph Writing, Creative Writing, Intensive Reading I and II, and Extensive Reading I, II, an III, as well as overseeing the Reading Marathon. She is also heavily involved in the Winchester University TEFL Intensive Course.
Background
Margaret Orleans began her teaching career with junior high students at Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico. Since then she has taught speech, journalism, English, and religious studies at junior and senior high schools in the U.S., and a wide variety of English courses at universities in China and Japan. She spent thirteen years teaching English at Meiji Gakuen Junior/Senior High School, down the street from Seinan Jo.
Personal
Margaret Orleans’ chief research interest is finding ways to individualize classroom instruction efficiently and effectively. In her spare time she reads everything she can lay hands on, knits, cooks, corresponds, and would bicycle to school if Seinan Jo weren’t at the top of a steep hill. She generally has some chocolate to give away, so drop by her office.
