did a short study abroad program in New Zealand for 3 weeks. I took classes at Ara Institute in the mornings from 9:00 to 12:00. I mainly took classes focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and listening. For lunch, I brought my lunch, which my mother made every day\u2014mainly sandwiches and snacks. In the afternoon, we participated in activities and experienced the gondola, zoo, and canoeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the homestay, we were invited to the house where the host mother lived alone. When I returned home, we had dinner together every day, and afterwards we spent a relaxing time talking, watching TV, and doing puzzles. I wanted to spend a lot of time with my host mother, so I spent a lot of time in the living room and tried to communicate with her a lot. Since New Zealand families go to bed at 10 p.m., I said &#8220;Good night&#8221; to my host mother around 10 p.m. and went to my room to study vocabulary and school assignments until bedtime. I spent one day with my mother on the weekend and she took me to the sights of Christchurch and places I wanted to visit to make memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had a hard time in the first week because of the difference in accent and pronunciation of New Zealand English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christchurch is a very comfortable place to live, and many people are very kind and friendly if you need help. The weather in Christchurch changes many times a day, so it was difficult to cope with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After spending three weeks there, I felt I was very fortunate to have met my host mother, the friends I made there, and the environment, and I gained many good experiences.
