On January 21, 2024, students and teachers from our Chiki Project course helped organise a plogging event in Central Kokura. This event combines jogging, jogga in Swedish, with picking up litter, plocka up—hence the name. It was held in collaboration with local companies and groups—in particular Kokura Shima Shima who provided wonderful souvenirs to everyone. 120 people took part in the event during which they combed the downtown area searching for trash. It was a very successful event which raised the awareness of locals for keeping the city clean. It was also a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain experience in organising community events. We are looking forward to next year!
