In order to appreciate the relevance of studying English, students must be able to relate their own interests to their study. In addition, studying English must be supplemented with practical experience using the English language. In this lecture, we will look at how getting involved in volunteer groups can provide opportunities to use English in practical situations. Examples of groups in the Philippines will be discussed.<\/div>\n
Amihan April Mella-Alcazar is an Adjunct Professor at the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines. She speaks 6 languages (including Japanese) and is an advocate of women\u2019s and children’s rights.<\/div>\n
