    History of the Yaskawa Residence

This house was built in 1904 by Keiichiro Yasukawa. He was the founder of the Yasukawa financial group and an entrepreneur who helped lay the foundations of the industrial city of Kitakyushu. He built it as a residence for his later years and continued to be used for three generations. It was also designated as a tangible cultural property by Kitakyushu City on 1 August 2008. Because of this, it is an extremely valuable residential building in the history of upper-class housing in northern Kyushu.
