Warehouses
The Minamigura (or southern storehouse) was built in 1912. It is the oldest reinforced concrete building in western Japan and the second oldest in all of Japan.
The Kitagura (or northern storehouse) was built at the same time as the Minamigura, but while the Minamigura is a reinforced concrete structure, the Kitagura is a brick structure with exterior walls covered with stone to give the appearance of a stone structure. Although the structures are different, the scale and appearance are the same, making them a pair of “twin” warehouses.
Recommendation: Take some time to read the panels and watch the videos for a look into life in the residences early days.
