Glass Arbour
This arbour (azumaya) is made of glass. As the city was restoring the building, it was not clear what had been there, therefore a transparent four-arched structure was built to blend in with the landscape so as not to spoil the original scenery.
It is said that it may have been a tea ceremony room because a lantern with a design of tea utensils was found there. There is also a tsukubai placed in the garden facing the tea ceremony room nearby. “Tsukubai” is a place to purify one’s hands and mouth before entering the tea ceremony room.
