Large Tatami Room
The central room of the main building is the “O-Zashiki” . Both rooms can be converted into a performance area for Noh and Kyogen performances by removing the fusuma screens and tatami mats. In 1913, the Chinese revolutionary Sun Wen visited the house, and a commemorative photo of him and the Yasukawa family with the large tatami room in the background remains. A replica of a sign reading “World Peace” that Sun Wen wrote and presented to Keiichiro Yasukawa can also be seen in the room.
On October 25 and 26, 2023, three games of shogi in the Ryuoh 7-ban tournament between Sota Fujii Ryuoh and Takumi Ito 7-dan were held here. A special display has been reproduced in the large tatami room, recreating the match-up of the same generation in which Takumi Ito 7-dan challenged Sota Fujii Ryuoh, the first player in history to win the ‘Eight Crowns’. Other valuable items are also be on display.
This is a wonderful place to enjoy tea from the cafe while enjoy the garden views.
