On November 17, with the help of the students of the Swanson Seminar in the English Department of Seinan Jo Gakuin University and the members of the tea ceremony club, we held a wonderful event at the former Yasukawa Residence, which is designated as a tangible cultural property of the city! We had two main events:

Guided Tour

We gave a guided tour of the former Yasukawa residence, explaining the building and its charms in both Japanese and English (we had lots of children taking part, and we think they enjoyed it, especially the quizzes and prizes)

Tea Ceremony Experience

We set up an opportunity for Japanese people and guests from overseas to experience the spirit of the tea ceremony and the deliciousness of powdered green tea, which is a traditional culture. With the help of the tea ceremony club members, we were able to create a space for a real tea ceremony. ✨

Both events were very popular and continued to be fully booked! On that day, we had 140 people from various countries and regions come to visit, and we were able to receive many happy comments like “It was fun. This is a wonderful place.” For us students, it was also an opportunity to interact with many people, and it became an irreplaceable memory for us all.
