This week, students from Mr. Zitzmann & Mr. Swanson’s seminar groups started an exciting new community project near Hiraodai in Kitakyushu! 🇯🇵✨今週、ツィッツマン先生とスワンソン先生のゼミ学生たちが、北九州市・平尾台近くの農地で新しい地域貢献プロジェクトをスタートしました！🇯🇵✨
We spent the afternoon preparing the farmland and planting satsumaimo (sweet potatoes) 🍠 and pumpkins 🎃 together. Over the coming months, the students will continue cultivating the crops until harvest time in October. 学生たちは今週、畑の準備を行い、さつまいも🍠とかぼちゃ🎃の苗植えをしました。これから10月の収穫まで、みんなで協力しながら育てていきます。
Our goal is to use the vegetables to make homemade soup for the school festival, with all profits being donated to a local charity group. 🤝収穫した野菜は大学祭でスープとして販売し、その利益は地域の慈善団体へ寄付する予定です。🤝
Through this project, students are learning how to plan and carry out a complete grassroots community activity — from growing food to preparing it for a meaningful purpose. It’s also an important part of our university’s community outreach efforts. We’re excited to see how the project grows! 🌱 このプロジェクトは、「食べ物を育てる → 調理する → 社会に役立てる」という一連の活動を学生自身が計画・実行することを目的としています。また、本学の地域連携活動の一環としても取り組んでいます。これからの成長が楽しみです！🌱
