On Saturday, June 17, Yumi Nakano, a 3rd year student in the English Department achieved 3rd place in the 下関市立大学英語弁論大会 speech contest. The contest consisted of a self-written speech, Q&A session, and an extemporaneous speech. The contest included students from these universities:

- Tokyo University
- Keio University
- Doshisha University
- Jochi University
- Kobe University
- Kansai University
- Soka University
- Kitakyushu City University
Yumi is a member of the Seinan Jo Gakuin University ESS circle.
英語学科３年の中野侑美さんが、６月１５日（土）に行われた下関市立大学英語弁論大会で３位に入賞しました。この英語弁論大会では、出場者は自作のスピーチ、質疑応答、即興スピーチを行うことになっています。本大会には、下関市立大学、東京大学、慶応大学、同志社大学、上智大学、神戸大学、関西大学、創価大学、北九州市立大学の学生が参加していました。中野さんは本学ESS部の部員です。
