This summer, some of our students are studying abroad at Vancouver Island University in Canada with Mr Zitzmann. This is part of our 欧米文化交流研修 coursework. Here is his first report from Canada:
After a long flight from Fukuoka to Vancouver via Incheon, Korea we all arrived safely. A quick taxi ride to the quaint town of Horseshoe Bay gave us enough time to enjoy the town and some refreshments before getting on the ferry for the ride to Vancouver Island. Although everyone was tired from the flight we enjoyed the fresh air and dramatic views from the deck. Upon arrival we were greeted by the host families who met us at the ferry terminal to take us home and help us settle in to our new Canadian lives.
The next day we all met up at school early in the morning for some orientation and preparation for the next few weeks of learning and adventure. In the afternoon we enjoyed a mixer, where we had some snacks and did some activities to get to know each other better.
The first week has been really intense: making new friends, speaking English all day in class and at home, and visiting the beautiful city of Victoria where some of us went whale watching and others went to the famous Butchart Gardens.
It’s been an amazing week. We’re looking forward to what’s in store for next week.
